Let us narrate the The Journey of Ice Cream.

The Journey of Ice Cream:

Persia:

Though, there are many myths surround Ice Cream; and, it’s actual origin. It is believed that Ice Cream evolved from cooled Wines and flavored Ice. And, it is assumed that the flavored ice might have come from Persia. Alexander the Great use to love these iced wines.

Arabia:

Arabians were the first to add sugar to the ice cream. Also, they were the first to make Ice Creams commercially. They had their ice cream factories in 10th century. The ingredients, which Arabians were using to make ice creams are

  • Chilled Syrup or Milk
  • Pieces of Fruits and Nuts

China:

China use to add sugar to Ice. And, then they would sell it as food during summers. Later, they have started freezing fruit juice to sell those in the market. Next innovation by the Chinese, they would make ice cream by freezing the mixture of milk and rice.

India:

Kulfi is one of the invention of Mughal Chefs in India. Mughal emperor would send their horsemen to ice from Hindu Kush to Delhi. And, these ice were use to make fruit shurbats or squash. This was the era of early sixteen.

Italy:

It is said that Marco Polo saw Ice Cream being made in China on his trip to China. And, brought the recipe to Italy.

France:

In 1651, Francesco Dei Coltelli opened an Ice Cream Cafe in Paris. And, the product became so famous, that in next 50 years, another 250 icecafes were opened in Paris.

Germany:

In Germany, Italian Ice Parlors are popular. And, the reason behind this is immigration of many Italians to Germany. These immigrants had started their business in Germany since then.

United States:

Colonists introduced Ice Cream in United States. When they moved to US, they brought their Ice Cream recipes along. Many of the European Confectioners would sold Ice Creams at their confectionery shops in New York and few other cities, during the colonial era. Ice Cream Soda and Ice Cream Sundae, both are creation of US.
